Up in the Air: 2 minute teaser

This is one of those things where you really can’t explain why it looks so good, but it does. Clooney, Bateman, and a handful of other solid actors is always a good recipe. Here is a synopsis courtesy of the kind fellas at FirstShowing.net

Ryan Bingham (George Clooney) is a corporate downsizing expert – someone who fires people for a living – whose cherished life on the road is threatened by young hotshot just as he is on the cusp of reaching ten million frequent flyer miles and after he’s met the frequent-traveler woman he never thought he’d meet.

Lesson of the day: I’m quite upset that I’m missing the Toronto International Film Festival.

Trailer: Woody Harrelson’s Defendor

defendor
Woody Harrelson is the new Robert Downey Jr. Ok, that might be a bit of an extreme statement, but he is definitely finding ways to keep his once floundering career alive and even push it back in to the black (no Wesley Snipes). This is the trailer for his new comedy Defendor. It looks like pretty good and seems to keep you interested in the actual story of this man while keeping the comedy aspect intact. Hope this indie gets picked up at the Toronto Film Festival. I’d love to see it in theatres.

Lesson of the day: Use my other name. It works better.

Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day – Red Band Trailer

bds

I’m excited, but I must admit that Father Time has not been good to Sean Patrick Flanery. It still looks relatively badass though and this is the rare type of movie that could actually be a straight to DVD hit. It’s suppose to release on November 1st (All Saint’s Day in the Catholic Church) so we’ll have to wait and see exactly what “release” means. Enjoy:

Lesson of the day: I really hope the Willem Dafoe replacement protege lives up to the hype.

Latest Trailer for Extract…I <3 Mila Kunis

mila

Mila is only in this trailer for half a second, but she’s awesome just the same. Mike Judge (dir. Office Space) is the man. Jason Bateman is the man and I think all things considered it will do mediocre numbers in the box office and will be a solid addition to my DVD collection. Enjoy:

PS – cheers to Mr. Affleck for taking a cue from James Franco and diversifying his portfolio.

Lesson of the day: It’s not a drug…it’s a flower.

Trailer: The Tournament

Ving Rhames in an indie assassin flick. I’m kind of hoping this one gets picked up for US distribution though. It’ll add to my excitement over…

wait for it….

BLACK DYNAMITE!!!!

Lesson of the day: In the words of Dave Chappelle, “black actors.”

Francois Dillinger > John Dillinger…Youth in Revolt Trailer

I completely agree with the fellas at FirstShowing.net on this one. I was starting to get annoyed with the idea of Michael Cera always playing the exact same character even with the clever little viral piece I covered in May. However, the Francois Dillinger character in this movie looks phenomenal and I’m legitimately excited to see him pull this off. I’ll definitely be in the theatres when this drops on 10/30. Enjoy:

Lesson of the day: Solidarity.

Capitalism: A Love Story…the recession proof trailer.

eminem

Ok so it’s no secret that I enjoy being up on the new film drops and trailers and such and pride myself on being at the forefront of cinema when it comes to urban blogging (you can quote me on that). That being said, this looks funny, informative, and insightful and that is everything we have come to know and love from a Michael Moore documentary. Look for this in theaters on September, 23rd and look for Republicans and other “patriots” to be butt hurt until the recession lets up some more and they can afford an assassination.

Shouts to FirstShowing.net and CNN for the white collar leak.

Lesson of the day: Where is our money???

Tyson…the documentary

tyson

A few months ago I was lucky enough to see Mike Tyson on the 3rd St. Promenade in Santa Monica, CA. Was he coming from Foot Locker with some new work out gear? No. Was he coming from GNC with a supplement that would make him even more of an intimidating presence? No. He was coming from Pinkberry with a frozen yogurt that appeared to be quite yummy for lack of a better word. And the best part is…all anyone could say was, “How’s it going, Champ?”

And that in a nutshell sums up how seriously badass Mike Tyson is.

This documentary recieved a standing ovation at Sundance and is currently on sale for about $20-$30. Enjoy:

Lesson of the day: My style is impetuous. My D is impregnable.

Where the Wild Things Are…the trailer of a childhood

This trailer visualizes just about everything that grabbed me about the book as a child.

Lesson of the day: Remember when Spike did music videos???

FRAGGLE ROCK! THE MOVIE! FOR THE WIN!

If you are in 20-30 year old age range I can just about guarantee that you saw the post title and the picture and immediately became excited.  According to one of my favorite sites, FirstShowing.net, the Jim Henson company is back up and running and the Fraggle Rock Movie that was shelved years ago is back on the slate and inches away from pre-production stages.

Here’s the highlight from Brian Henson’s (Jim Henson’s son) talk with MTV’s Adam Rosenberg:

First up, the Fraggle Rock movie is “still in very active development. Very active development. That has a very strong script.” He also adds: “It’ll have a strong musical component. It’ll be expanded to an older audience. Fraggle Rock [the TV show] was presented… for a pretty exclusively children’s audience. The feature film does expand it to be more accessible to a wider audience.”

And here is one of the best opening songs of all time:

Lesson of the day: Dance your cares away, worry’s for another day. Let the music play, down at Fraggle Rock.
