Redband Trailer: The Goods

I posted the first trailer for this back in late May. I appreciate the fact that they waited for The Hangover to do ridiculous numbers before they decided to give Ed Helms some trailer love. I also appreciate that Robin Thicke’s dad Jason Seaver Alan Thicke is in it. I’m sure it won’t do great numbers, but I’ll go see it and I’ll enjoy it because as I said before, Jeremy Piven is a BAMF. Enjoy…

Lesson of the day: And this just as Piven was becoming almost human on Entourage.

Where the Wild Things Are Featurette…it’s so good I almost cried

This featurette for Spike Jonze’s adaptation of Maurice Sendak’s classic, Where the Wild Things Are was show at Comic-Con on friday. Not only does it look great, but I’m really enjoying the mutual respect between Sendak and Jonze and the fact that Sendak’s analysis of the old school feel seems to be dead on. I can not wait to see this and all of the fanfare and promos that will come with the release. I feel like a little kid reading the book again for the first time and you will too.

Lesson of the day: The kid who will be Max is named Max Records.

Trailer: Derrick Comedy’s Mystery Team

If you don’t know who these guys are then you obviously don’t have as much free time to surf the net for funny videos as I do. The Derrick Comedy team is the team that gave such web classics as Bro Rape and the fan favorite, NiggerFaggot (apologizing to no one is probably the only route in that case). In any event, these guys are quite funny and this was a huge hit at Sundance (one of the few bandwagons I listen to) so enjoy and of course I’ve posted appetizers below:

Bro Rape

NiggerFaggot or National Spelling Bee for the PC Crowd

Lesson of the day: They should’ve spliced in a clip of Chris Brown’s video apology somewhere.

Trailer: Ellen Page in Drew Barrymore’s Whip It!

It might be because I’m really digging Ellen Page or it might be because I’ve always loved Drew Barrymore’s Tara Reid crazed party girl to successful woman story, but I think this is going to be a Juno-esque indie hit. It’s about a young girl in the boondocks joining a sick roller derby team. I guarantee that after this movie Ellen Page (she’s 22, I checked) will be officially declared a Hollywood hottie (and she can actually act…can Megan Fox do that?). Anyways, enjoy:

Lesson of the day: Babe Ruthless is to Whip It! as Maverick is to Top Gun

Ong Bak 2 Trailer: Yes He’s fighting a real live Alligator

I could type about this for hours and trust me one day I will, but a lot of blogs have too many words these days. Just watch and appreciate how badass this man.

(French Trailer)
Lesson of the day: NetFlix the first one and The Protector NOW!

Facebook…Book > Movie

In more “Facebook runs the internet” related news David Fincher (Fight Club, Benjamin Button, Se7en) has signed on to direct the film adaptation of Ben Mezrich’s (“Bringing down the House”/21) newest book The Accicendtal Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook A Tale of  Sex, Money, Genius, and Betrayal.  Aaron Sorkin (A Few Good Men) is the writer for the project tentatively named The Social Network.

Now that I’ve gotten the boring informative part out of the way I’d like to say that I’m hoping this has more of a Pirates of Silicon Valley feel to it as oppossed to 21.  I’ll most likely read the book when it hits shelves on July 14th.  I see no reason to pre-order it from Amazon considering the public doesn’t read as much as it used to, but this should definitely be a good one.  I’m particularly looking forward to reading some “off the record” stuff like Zuckerberg getting thrown out of a strip club in a trecnch coat or the other guy (Eduardo Saverin) making it rain on the comm/psych majors at a toga party in the Harvard quad.  Let’s dig up some dirt dammit.

Ps – do you think if Michael Cera took the role of Zuckerberg he’d perpetuate his typecast?

Lesson of the day: With all the people attached to this off screen it should be at least above average on screen.  I’d love to see a trailer.

New Inglourious Basterds Trailer…with even more Pitt!

If you followed this blog from conception then you’ve already seen the first trailer. And you know that this one blows it out of the water:

Lesson of the day: I know where I’ll be on 8/21.

Trailer: Michael Moore’s Wall Street

Here is the trailer for Michael Moore’s upcoming documentary Wall Street,  giving us that classic Michael Moore spin the current economic situation and the bank bailouts.  It’s pretty clever, especially if you were sitting in one of the select theatres where ushers actually walked down the aisles with offering trays.  It’s a political doc as always so it’ll have friends and enemies, but all things considered I think it’ll be worth the watch no matter what side of the situation you’re on.

Lesson of the day: It’s better to give than to recieve.

Trailer: Shutter Island

This is not The Departed, but Scorcese and Dicaprio know how to make damn good movies.  In theatres October 2009.

Lesson of the day: Scorcese + DiCaprio = classic
